The California Sands Estate is situated four miles from Great Yarmouth, between Hemsby and Caister. John and I class it as a holiday "park" rather than a commercially run holiday camp, as it has limited facilities, but is ideal as a base for exploring and visiting a large area of Norfolk. We keep folders in the chalet with leaflets on places of interest for adults and kids.
The beach is only ten minutes walk down the road and it is well worth it, it really is beautiful, miles of golden sand, stretching as far as the eye can see! You can take dogs on that part of the beach and you can also fish from there.
As you walk towards the beach, you will find the California Tavern, it is a nice family pub, which offers inexpensive meals, (which we can personally recommend) Sunday carvery and live entertainment on some nights.
We cannot accept bookings from parties of all male or all female young people, as this is a site rule.
We can only accept a maximum of two dogs per chalet, but please check with us, as there are site rules that don't allow certain breeds.
The site has limited facilities, which include.

• Children's play area
• Amusement centre
• Supermarket and gift shop combined
• Cycle and holiday hire shop
• Launderette
• Restaurant
• Fish and chip shop
• Oasis heated indoor swimming pool (Entrance fee required)
• The Oasis Cabaret Club, which usually has some form of nightly entertainment.

We cannot guarantee the opening and closing times of any of these facilities. John and I have tried the fish and chip shop and eaten in the café restaurant and we can say that the food in both was very nice and quite reasonably priced. You must keep dogs on a lead on the site, for the sake of other holiday makers and also the road alongside the camp, although fairly quiet, does have quite a lot of “through traffic” . You must also clean up after your dog, as dog faeces can cause a disease called “toxocariasis"” which causes blindness in children.
